 Jo Hoenninger, Principle.  Ms. Hoenninger graduated from the University of Southern California
School of Law in 1999 and spent her first seven years of practice learning the ropes at some of the most prestigious law firms in the country, notably Heller Ehrman and Skadden Arps.

In addition to practicing law, Ms. Hoenninger serves as a mediator for the ADR Program of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and also conducts private mediations.

Ms Hoenninger has a strong commitment to pro-bono work.  She was one of the attorneys who authored the amicus brief of of religious organizations in support of marriage equality in the Marriage Cases.   

Ms. Hoenninger is currently on the Board of Marriage Equality USA, past Co-Chair of the Board of Servicemembers Legal Defense Fund, past Co-Chair of the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom, past Co-Chair of Lesbian and Gay Lawyers of Los Angeles, and is active in the Conference of Delegates of California Bar Associations and has served on the Resolutions Committee.for that organization.

 
 Matthew Wood, Associate.   Mr. Wood joined HoenningerLaw in September 2007 after graduating from Golden Gate University School of Law.  He became an Associate with the firm in December 2007.  While in law school, Mr. Wood served as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. Marjorie Slabach in San Francisco Unified Family Court, worked as a Law Clerk for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and as a student clinician at the Women’s Employment Rights Clinic at Golden Gate University.  

Mr. Wood has a long history of upholding human rights.  Prior to law school, Mr. Wood worked for the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission helping to protect the rights of sexual and gender minorities in the Global South.  

Mr. Wood has a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in American Studies and has taught classes in lesbian and gay history, gender, sexuality, and law.  Mr. Wood is a past member of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission’s LGBT Advisory Committee, the California State Bar’s Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Discrimination, and the board of the Gay and Lesbian Historical Society.
